Tension gripped Ward No. 6 of South Dum Dum Municipality yesterday following the alleged death of Nayan Saha due to severe beating, according to reports. Nayan, found in critical condition, was rushed to the hospital by the husband of municipal councilor Usha Debnath, where he was declared dead.
After the incident, enraged local residents reportedly vandalized the party office of Abhi Debnath. The deceased's body is scheduled to be brought home today after undergoing post-mortem examination. The incident has sparked tensions in the area, and a heavy police force from the Dumdum police station has been deployed in the area.
